Yes. When planned and delivered correctly, professional firework displays are an extremely safe form of entertainment. In fact, every professional display involves careful planning, detailed risk assessments and strict safety procedures long before the first firework is ever fired.
At Reaction Fireworks, safety has always been our highest priority. For nearly 40 years, we’ve provided professional displays for weddings, local authorities, major public events, hotels, sporting events and private celebrations throughout the UK, always working to the highest standards of professionalism and safety.
Safety Begins During the Planning Stage
A successful firework display starts well before the event itself.
Every display begins with careful planning, taking into account:
- The size and layout of the venue.
- The number of spectators.
- Safe firing distances.
- Nearby buildings and structures.
- Trees and overhead obstructions.
- Roads, footpaths and public access.
- Livestock and neighbouring properties.
- Emergency vehicle access.
This allows us to determine the safest firing location while ensuring your guests enjoy the very best possible view.
Professional Fireworks Are Very Different
Professional displays use Category F4 fireworks, which are designed exclusively for trained operators.
Unlike consumer fireworks, professional fireworks:
- Are fired from purpose-built launch equipment.
- Use professional electronic firing systems.
- Are positioned in carefully planned firing layouts.
- Are operated by experienced professionals.
- Are subject to strict transport and storage regulations.
These procedures help ensure every display is carried out safely and consistently.
Electronic Firing Improves Safety
Every Reaction Fireworks display is electronically fired using professional digital firing systems.
This means our operators can fire the display from a safe, controlled location rather than manually lighting individual fireworks.
Electronic firing also provides:
- Exceptional timing accuracy.
- Greater reliability.
- Improved control throughout the display.
- The ability to safely stop the display if necessary.
Electronic firing has become the professional industry standard and is used at major public events throughout the world.
Weather Is Constantly Monitored
Weather conditions play an important role in every display.
Before and during each event we continuously monitor conditions including:
- Wind speed.
- Wind direction.
- Visibility.
- Rain.
If conditions are unsuitable, we’ll always make decisions based on safety first. Fortunately, professional fireworks are far more resilient than many people realise, and light rain rarely prevents a display from taking place.
Qualified and Experienced Operators
Experience makes a significant difference.
Over almost four decades, Reaction Fireworks has delivered thousands of displays ranging from small private celebrations to large-scale public events attended by tens of thousands of spectators.
That experience allows us to recognise potential issues before they become problems and to adapt our display designs to suit each individual venue.
Insurance and Documentation
Professional firework companies should always carry appropriate insurance.
Reaction Fireworks holds £10 million Public Liability Insurance, providing reassurance to venues, event organisers and clients.
Where required, we also provide:
- Risk assessments.
- Method statements.
- Insurance certificates.
- Site plans.
- Technical information requested by venues or local authorities.
Safety Doesn’t Stop After the Display
Once the final firework has been fired, our work isn’t finished.
Our team carefully inspects the firing area, ensuring equipment is made safe and spent firework casings, wiring and other materials are removed where reasonably practicable.
Only once we’re satisfied the site is safe do we begin dismantling and leaving the venue.
Your Safety Is Our Reputation
Every professional firework company has a responsibility to protect spectators, venue staff, neighbouring properties and its own operators.
At Reaction Fireworks, our reputation has been built over nearly 40 years by delivering displays safely, professionally and reliably. Whether we’re providing a wedding display for 80 guests or a major public celebration attended by thousands, our approach never changes – safety always comes first.
Safety Advice
Never allow members of the public to enter the firing area before, during or immediately after a professional firework display. Although the display may appear to have finished, trained operators must first inspect the site for any unexploded fireworks or equipment before the area can safely be reopened.
