One of the most common questions we receive is, “How early should I book?” The simple answer is that the earlier you book, the greater the choice of dates and the more time there is to plan your display properly.

While we can sometimes accommodate enquiries at short notice, many of our most popular dates are reserved months, and occasionally more than a year, in advance.

Since 1987, Reaction Fireworks has provided displays for weddings, local authorities, hotels, visitor attractions, sporting venues and major public events throughout the UK. As a result, our diary begins filling well before the fireworks season starts.

Wedding Firework Displays

Wedding bookings are often made between 6 and 18 months before the big day.

Many couples book their fireworks shortly after confirming their venue, allowing plenty of time to:

  • Confirm venue approval.
  • Discuss bespoke requirements.
  • Arrange a site visit if required.
  • Plan any musical choreography.
  • Coordinate timings with the venue.

Booking early also gives you the best chance of securing your preferred display time and date.

Bonfire Night Events

Bonfire Night is, without question, our busiest period of the year.

The weekends either side of 5 November are particularly popular, with many local authorities, sports clubs and community organisations holding their annual celebrations.

We recommend booking these displays as early as possible, ideally several months in advance.

Many regular clients reserve their dates almost a year ahead.

New Year’s Eve Celebrations

New Year’s Eve is another date that becomes fully booked very quickly.

Displays for hotels, public events and private celebrations often require extensive planning, particularly where multiple firing locations or musical choreography are involved.

The earlier planning begins, the more opportunities there are to create something truly spectacular.

Large Public Events

Large public displays generally require the longest planning period.

Depending on the event, preparation may include:

  • Multiple planning meetings.
  • Site visits.
  • Display design.
  • Risk assessments.
  • Coordination with local authorities.
  • Safety Advisory Group meetings.
  • Programming electronic firing systems.

For major public events, planning often begins many months before the display takes place.

Can You Accept Last-Minute Bookings?

Sometimes, yes.

If we have availability and the venue is suitable, we’ll always do our best to accommodate late enquiries.

However, short notice may limit:

  • Available dates.
  • Display options.
  • Site visit opportunities.
  • Bespoke design features.

Whenever possible, we recommend getting in touch as early as you can.

Why Early Planning Matters

Booking early isn’t simply about reserving a date.

It also allows time to:

  • Design the display properly.
  • Coordinate with your venue.
  • Arrange any special effects.
  • Discuss music.
  • Plan logistics.
  • Answer any questions you may have.

Good planning almost always results in a better display.

Our Advice

If you’ve confirmed your event date, there’s no disadvantage in contacting us early.

Even if you’re still deciding exactly what type of display you’d like, we’re always happy to discuss the options and provide advice without obligation.

Many of our clients tell us that the planning process was much simpler than they expected, largely because everything had been organised well in advance.

Secure Your Date Early

Professional firework displays are often one of the highlights of an event, and demand for experienced display companies continues to grow.

Booking early provides peace of mind, gives you access to the widest range of options and allows us to design a display that’s perfectly suited to your venue and your celebration.

From Our Experience

Every year we receive enquiries just a few days before Bonfire Night asking if we’re available. Occasionally we’re able to help, but more often than not our diary has been full for months. Clients who book early not only secure their preferred date, they also give us the time to create something truly special rather than simply fitting them into an already busy schedule.

Myth vs Reality

Myth: You only need to book a professional firework display a few weeks before your event.

Reality: While short-notice bookings are sometimes possible, the most popular dates—including Bonfire Night weekends, Saturdays during the wedding season and New Year’s Eve—are often reserved many months in advance.

Fireworks Fact

Some of the UK’s largest public firework displays begin planning more than a year before the event takes place. Major city celebrations often involve detailed coordination between fireworks companies, local authorities, emergency services, production teams and venue operators long before the first firework is loaded.
